Fabric Crochet Purse

I created this fabric crochet purse the other day, it was so easy to make.

Obviously, I still need to add a strap, but I like this purse and the fabric strip fringe detail.

My quilting readers will recognize the batik fabric used for this project.

IMG_9985Here is another view of my purse, minus the purse straps.  I created this bag as a class sample for my Fabric Crochet Class I am teaching in a few weeks at the AU Machine Quilting Festival.  You, too, can learn this fun project if you are planning to be at this show.   🙂

I am now making a larger bag, perhaps a backpack crochet bag.  This time, I am using citrus colors of yellow, orange, dark orange and shade of lime green.  Think lemons, oranges, and limes.  Anyway, I love fabric crochet and can’t wait to teach it.

What are YOU creating?   Take care, Carla

Fabric Crochet Purse and things I like…

Happy Wednesday to you!! I’m quilting in the studio today, but I thought I would mention I am teaching a fabric crochet purse class tomorrow at my favorite quilt store. Here are a few pictures of purse samples I have made before:

I enjoy teaching this class, so I am looking forward to it!!

I also decided to share some displays in my home that I enjoy looking at each day. Here they are in random order:

My display cabinet:

You can see just a taste of several of my collections: vintage scales and cameras, more chickens and my sand collection.

These flowers smell so good, very cinnamon.

Last up, a sneak peek at my studio desk…

Enjoy your day!! Hugs, Carla

Post Birthday & Heart Quilt Auction

Today is the last day for the “Have a Heart” Quilt auction to benefit the issue of women and heart disease. I contributed a quilt for this auction, one with a hand dyed and painted center heart with lots of cool quilting:

carlabarret.jpg Right now, this 28″ x 35″ original quilt by me is going for a bargain auction bid of $100.00 US. You all can do better than that! Bid now, however the bidding ends later today at this website.

Other news: Yesterday, November 5th, was my birthday you might have guessed. Thank you for your lovely comments, emails, cards and phone calls! I also spent the day by crocheting fabric for a new purse or bag:

purse.jpg I’m now at the embellishment phase, however, I need more light colored fabric for the flap of the bag- which means another trip to the quilt store.

My DH (dear husband) was incredibly sweet yesterday. He came home and made me a special dinner. Then, he tried his hand at baking a cake:

Let’s just say it was a very “textural” cake!! LOL I loved his effort!

Today is back to work, a quilting day. I have a quilt for the local quilt store on the machine. I teach 2 classes later this week, so I hope to finish it and deliver it back before then.

Hugs, Carla
