Bargello Heart Quilt

I finished the bargello heart quilt for a friend a few days ago.  I took some quick pictures before it went home.  It is hard to see the stitching due to the lighting, but here you go:

Next up is a 3-D pinwheel quilt.  I’ve lost count on how many of these I have quilted.  I want to make one for Jack.  Other quilt news, the Gold Bug Quilters Show is later this week.

I’ve been promising updated Jack pics, so here he is now at 8 months.  He crawls, stands up, and loves to explore.  In the first picture he is checking out his new car seat:

More Woody the Redneck contractor stories as he is coming back to actually work today!  I’ll be sure to keep track of all his “Woody-isms” and share with you.  By the way, I told Woody I write about him on my blog and he thinks it is funny.

Yesterday, I received unsolicited firearm lessons from Woody on how to “address” an intruder if one breaks into my house.  He even demonstrated where to position my body so I don’t miss.  Where else can you get construction work plus practical safety information?? LOL

Enjoy your day!  Carla

Shopping Therapy

With my Metal Arts class this semester, I have a good reason to engage in some shopping therapy- all in the name of education!! Today, I visited a lapidary store and picked up a flex shaft set to use on my metal homework.  A flex shaft is basically like a Dremel tool, only on steroids.  It has a foot control like a sewing machine too.

I also bought a sheet of 24 gauge silver and this terrific book:

Never thought I would get so excited about buying sheets of metal.  I will eventually turn the silver into jewelry…well eventually.  I’m still learning all the tools and techniques right now.  I’ll show you more homework one of these days.

DD Amy, the artist, needed a mom taxi to the doctor today, so I was a nice mum and drove her about.  Thank god for cell phones, I could drop her off, then run across the street to the quilt store and visit with friends there before receiving the phone call to come pick her up.  This is the way the world should work, I’ve decided.

Tomorrow, I have got to work on the bargello quilt,  I still need to finalize my quilting plan.  It seems I get side tracked by real life.  Hugs, Carla

Next Quilt Up

The quilt I just loaded onto my longarm table is this bargello heart quilt:

I just pieced the backing- which is a medium shade of the salmon color fabric.  I’ve drawn out the quilting plan, but I want to work on it a bit before I start the quilting.  Check back and I will show you my prelim quilting plan for this particular quilt, also discuss design challenges with a bargello quilt such as this and how I overcome them. Carla note: Quilting Plan is HERE.

Been busy making all the travel details for my October Kauai trip.  Thanks to Lori and everyone else who recommended what to do and places to see.  I can’t wait to go!!

So far I like the roomba… it did miss one of two spots, so I will see if it gets those places tomorrow.  So far, so good!!

A big welcome to all the new blog readers- I had a banner traffic day yesterday with about 1700 hits!  That’s a lot of hits in one day for a smaller blog like mine.

Enjoy your day!  Carla
