Wildlife at My House

Over the years, you have read about  the wildlife visiting  my house; including turkeys, cougars, raccoons, deer, skunks, rabbits, and more!   The latest addition to the list is a red-shouldered hawk:

I watched this hawk while he hunted from his tree perch.   I grabbed my camera and took the following pictures:

and this shot:

When we bought our homesite 10+ years ago, we only saw one couple of red-shouldered hawks and their nest.  Now, they have multiplied to dozens of nests.  On any given day, we will see them hunting, soaring, or using their distinctive cry.

I love where I live!  Hugs, Carla

  1. Carla,

I love it. We too have hawks on our property from time to time only ours are Red-tailed Hawks. They look pretty much like yours. We also have a little bit of land and have wildlife, but not as diverse as your area. It is so wonderful living where you can witness nature and enjoy it’b beauty. I hope our future generations will have the opportunity to enjoy what we had growing up. Dar

  2. I had a hawk — a red tail hawk — my brother brought it home (out of a nest in a tree) a fuzzy little baby. Grrrr

So Mom and I fed it till it grew up. We’d walk around with it on our shoulders. Eventually, he learned to fly, and pretty soon he wanted to be free and would only visit and then he left. Beautiful pictures Carla — they are beautiful birds.
