Lake Erie to North of Detroit

This is my travel journal from a yacht delivery trip of the Motor/Yacht (M/Y) Odyssey, a 75 foot Lazzara, which started in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and ended in Bay Harbor, Michigan.- Carla

We were off at the crack of dawn:

This was a terrific day for traversing Lake Erie.  The lake was very flat for smooth travel.  Our initial plans were to stop in Ohio for the night, but we pushed on pass Detroit.  The only delay we encountered was a river closure in Detroit due to an air show over Detroit River:

Motoring pass downtown Detroit after the air show. Coast Guard presence was very high.

We stopped for the night just north of Detroit in a small marina:

We had a late dinner, so it was almost dark when we got back to the boat.  I took this shot, though, which I loved:

There are a few blog quilting friends that live nearby, but I didn’t have internet to contact them.  I encountered this many times during the journey.  Hmmm.. preplanning is needed on the next trip!

Another early day tomorrow!   Hugs from Carla

  1. You were only about a half hour from me! I wish I had a chance to meet you. I hope you liked the Detroit area and Michigan in general. There is sure lots to see here! Safe travels!
