Friday update!

Where did this week go?  Life is so busy at times, it helps to stop and take time to reflect.

Quilting wise, I’ve been working on texture quilting panels of batik to make several cell phone purses with freeform beading.  I figure I will pre-make the purse parts, then create the freeform beading while on my boat trip.

I have loaded a long piece of dark brown/black batik on the bottom, and 3 different colors of batik on top in this early morning dawn shot:

and here is a close up of the texture quilting, freeform style:

Upcoming trip:  I heard from my sister and discovered that my trip is being postponed 2 weeks due to a delay at the boat builder.  No problem, stuff like this happens, so you just go with the flow.  Plus, this gives me 2 extra weeks to get ready!!

My DD, Amy, is having surgery, so the delay means I can be with her during the procedure and recovery, too.

What are you up to this week/weekend?  Hugs, Carla

  1. So these wonderful cell phones purses will all have these copper goodies or something similar?

    I can’t wait to see them.

    I have been all over etsy looking at their handbags. Are you thinking of selling these beauties?

  2. Love the free-form quilting — I’d call this Carlaisque! :o}

    Just kicking back and planning to enter the mess in my quilting room today and work on something — or maybe just clean up. Then the grandkids while my DD goes out ballroom dancing. Kelsey talks to me now with lots of coo’s and ohhs — great fun!

  3. (sigh) I love your quilting. Just love it. Every time I see something you’ve quilted, my sewing machine taps me on the shoulder and whispers in my ear: QUILT. Get busy, and QUILT!

    It’s great you are lining up projects to work on while on the boat, and away from your machine. Even if you don’t get to them all, or get to finish, at least there will be something there if you want to work on a project. You’ll even have a choice of projects. Smart girl!

    I squeezed in a new project today amidst playing chauffeur to my teenage son, amidst my chaotic life. I’ll make a pattern from this design I worked on today, but in the meantime I’m trying to figure out if the quilt itself will be given to my Mother for her upcoming birthday or if I’ll swap it in the “Spring Blooms Mini Quilt Swap”. That’s been about it for today!
