Thought I would show you what my studio looks like today. It still isn’t finished, and I do not have my quilts on the wall yet. But I do have lots of places for storage- most of the storage pieces came from IKEA (in case you are interested):
My longarm quilting machine table takes up the most space.
A close up of my desk space:
and some storage ideas:
and how I store my yarn stash:
As you can see, I just need to finish quilting the green sections on Jill’s booth quilt, then I’m finished.
I do hope you have enjoyed this tour. My studio is a work-in-progress, so it is always changing.
We went to visit Jack today (and his parents, too). He turns 6 months old tomorrow, can you believe how time flies?? Stop back by and I’ll be sure to post some pictures.
Happy Creating!! Carla
Carla,
Hello!
I’ve been to your blog before but a long time ago…from Lori’s link.
You do such lovely work! You inspire me to get started on something again! It’s been a long time since I have made a large quilt!
Your studio is also an inspiration! Does it stay so tidy? Mine is also my laundry room/basement, which is handy when I need to wash fabrics first or something….but it fills up with lots of junk and “future project” stuff fast! Do you have a method for getting rid of stuff so that pack rat mess doesn’t take over? Please share!
IKEA is great, isn’t it?! I recognized nearly all the IKEA pieces! It’s practically the Swedish national store! EVERYONE goes to IKEA here!
Happy Quilting!
Carol in Sweden
Hi Carol, so good of you to visit once again! Isn’t Lori a dear?? OK, confession time… when I am being creative, I make a mess! I actually picked up my studio because I recently had a visitor, I gave a private class last Friday to a fellow machine quilter.
Of course, I should take a picture of my laundry room- next to my studio- it is stacked high with fabric and paint! LOL! I noticed there is an ebb and flow to the condition of my studio- clean….mess….clean……mess…. clean
My secret? I just try to clean it in-between projects. Since you share the space with laundry- check out those cute turtle bags from IKEA- just sort them into those and slide out of your way. Hugs, Carla
Thank you for this guided tour of your studio !
Very inspiring !
What a happy place!
What a wonderful place to work/play. I really like that scrap fabric storage!
I love your studio Carla. These grandbabies grow so fast. Our Taylor turned 5 months on the 18th. Have a great day.
Carla! Your studio looks like something out of a magazine!! Beautiful!
Thank you, but I still have stuff to do to finish it… hang up some quilts, make something for above the doorways, put up my cool vintage magazine rack on that wall to the right of the first picture, I want to paint my chicken on the wall or perhaps paint a canvas. I also want to hook up my TV so I can quilt while watching Project Runway- multi-tasking!!
Thank you for taking the time to comment!! Hugs, Carla
Thanks for showing pictures of your studio. Love it! It’s so fun to see where everyone spends their time. The quilting is beautiful, too, as always!
I’m going to IKEA and get some of those turtle bags — at last something cute to put all my scraps (that aren’t big enough for fat quarters (my fat quarter collection would make 20 big quilts). The studio looks great — I love that aqua painting — beautiful!!
Great studio, Carla. I’m afraid the ebb and flow is lost in my studio – some mess just stays where it is!
Great, happy place Carla. I’m curious though about the desk….is that a light table built in???
That was really neat, kinda voyeuristic, but really neat. What lovely light you have, and I love the way the black and green quilt is developing. Stunning.
Hey Carla,
It is so funny that you mention the turtles, because Carol loves, loves, loves turtles….
