I am in a beady sort of mood today, so I created this using peyote stitch bead weaving technique:
The swarovski crystal in the center will also be beaded, then added as a focal point.
I am also working on a new crochet scarf, this one is going to be a gift:
The cool color palette is soothing, isn’t it? Here is a close-up:
In case you are interested, I do have a tutorial for how to freeform crochet my way.
Also been doing a little quilting each day, too. I love creating and making things, I hope it shows. I want to end the new year with a creative frenzy!
Btw, I am getting a very strong desire to take a lampwork making class. I love the idea of making my own beads to use in my work. I will try to withstand the pull…. Hugs, Carla

You are SOOOO creative!! Love the colors in the scarf! The beaded item with the crystal — is it a bracelet?
Hi Barb, yes, the peyote stitch base is going to be a bracelet. I beaded the clasp instead of using a metal finding. Right now it is a blank slate just waiting to be enhanced.
I am working on a spiral peyote focal point project, too. I will take a pic and post it later. This project is very cool.
Ok, if you ever do a course, workshop, lesson for the inept in how to crochet those crazy lovely freeform scarves I am SO THERE, m’kay????
Hmmm… maybe I need to visit Spain to show you? I do have a free tutorial for making these, they are very very easy to make.
First step is to collect various textures of yarn in a pleasing color palette. To save money, you can also search for sweaters in the thrift stores and unwind them to salvage the yarn.
I can coach you through it via email if you’d like.
I really want to take your online class but I’ll be moving (slowly) until the end of January. How involved is the class? I guess I want to know what type of assignments we will have and how much time you think will be required. When will you teach it again?
Thanks!
( I first found you on craftster and now somehow found your blog)
Hi Norma, I will be teaching this class in person at a large show called International Machine Quilting Showcase near Kansas City, KS in May, 2010. If you live in Northern CA, I teach at a local quilt store called High Sierra Quilters in Cameron Park, CA.
The nice thing about the online class is that you can learn at your own pace and will have access to the class lesson, videos and forum for several months. I give students my home email and they may send me questions there, too.
The time commitment for the class can be what you want. I would say it would take about 1/2 hour to read each lesson, about 15 minutes for the videos (on average) and the creative exercises vary. Some take several minutes and others take 30 minutes. Of course, it is always fun to look at what the other students post and see their work, too, so add that in.
Does that help you understand it better? Btw, don’t you love craftster and all the various craft areas there? LOL Happy Quilting!
Oooh, I may have to give that a go…..
That looks doable, now to find a yarn store in BCN….that will be entertaining too! Hmmmmmmm………
