I have a gazillion of feather variations that I use in my quilting. I thought that from time to time, I would share them with you along with a how-to sketch. This is for all the quilters out there:
And here are the easy instructions (just click to enlarge). This is an easy design for all levels of quilters:
In a quilt, use this feather design with my echo-ed swirl design for small borders and lattice:

Thanks for the cute echo swirl feather and border design.
A very generous gift. Thank you! I have printed this out and will tuck it into my design book. I will post a pic as soon as I use it.
I printed it out too Carla. Thanks so much.
Thanks, Carla. Now if you could do a small Carla Doodle (I am thinking a border)…that would be great as I love the Carla Doodle..

Oops! Hit the submit button too soon. Thank you for the tutorials as they are much appreciated and very generous on your part.

I was wondering if you are Lynne Andersen’s sister. Would love to chat with you for a little if it isn’t to personal..Thank you for your time.

Thanks for the feather tute! Very lovely!
I seem to remember saving this before? Have I? Did you post one on LAC? ( could be a menopausal moment), but…thanks!
Silly comment reminds me of that movie with Sandra Bullock…
” Do I like Jello?”
Thanks for sharing. The “quilt as desired” is always the hardest step for me. Hopefully after more practice I will learn to embrace those words, but for now I am not sure I even like them.
Thank you Carla for being so generous with your design.

Thank you Carla I love the heart on top.
I’ll definitely give this a whirl, one of these days…If I EVER get finished with the one I have on the machine now…I think it’s taken up permanent residence…
Thanks, Carla!
Thanx carla, really appreciate the tut!
Thank you for the tutorial. I AM trying to learn to machine quilt.

Carla,
Are you aware there is a broken link on this page (how to quilt basic feathers)? I clicked on the link and it brought up a page, but it was a 404-broken link page – titled something like Carla’s Echo Stitching of Feathers – I know that’s not exactly correct. I am a beginning quilter/piecer and would love too learn the art of actual quilting, too..
Susan
Thank you, Susan, for alerting me of this link break. I have fixed it. Regards, Carla
Carla,
I have register for your next class 7/10-7/30. In viewing your Free Tutorial Page, I can’t wait. Your quilts are beautiful, and show your love for quilting and freehand expression. Thanks so much, see you on July 10th, on line of course.
